WSDOT's Southwest Region developed a guidebook to equip the state, regional, and local transportation operations and planning professionals with the knowledge, tools, and processes necessary to plan for and apply TSMO activities within corridors.
If you are a planner, this guidebook will help you tailor and apply a TSMO approach in a variety of geographic, social, and institutional contexts. Benefits of a TSMO approach in corridor planning included coordinated and strategic implementation and ongoing support through day-to-day operations and maintenance. The goal is a more balanced plan that has both operational and infrastructure investments that make it more financially feasible and achievable in the near term. It also allows for a more coordinated approach to integration of land use and transportation to ensure multimodal connectivity and reduction in the vehicle miles traveled.
